Connect an AI assistant

A Bit Better is a private nutrition and habit tracker. Once an AI assistant is connected, it can log your meals, weight and habits, attach meal photos, and read your day and weekly insights. This page explains how to connect one over MCP and what it can do.

What you need

An A Bit Better account (Google, Facebook or email and password) and an assistant that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth, such as Claude.

Connect

  1. In your assistant, add a custom connector or remote MCP server with this URL: https://www.abitbetter.app/api/mcp
  2. Your assistant opens the A Bit Better approval page. Sign in if asked.
  3. Check the account and the access being requested, then approve. “Tracking” lets the assistant read and update meals, nutrition, water, weight, steps, sleep, activity, habits and reflections. “Meals” lets it read your tracking and update meals only.
  4. Ask your assistant to look at today. It should read your day and targets before logging.

What the assistant can do

Example prompts

Control and privacy

Every change an assistant makes is recorded in an audit list. You can see and revoke every connection at any time in You → Assistants; revoking stops it immediately. Access tokens last one hour and refresh tokens 90 days, and only hashes of them are stored. Meal photos are stored privately with location data removed. See the privacy policy for what is stored and how to delete your data.

Troubleshooting

If the approval page does not open, check that the URL above is exact and that your assistant supports OAuth. If a connection stops working, revoke it in You → Assistants and connect again. Too many requests return a “rate limited” error; wait a minute and retry.
