A Bit Better is a private nutrition and habit tracker. This page explains what we collect, why, and how to have it removed.
What we collect
- Account details: your name and email address from Google or Facebook, or the email address and password you choose. Passwords are stored only as a salted hash.
- What you track: meals and their photos, water, steps, sleep, weight, workouts, notes and reflections, and your targets.
- Connections you set up: an assistant you let log for you, and a Hevy account if you link one. Assistant tokens are stored hashed; a Hevy key is stored encrypted.
- Circles: if you join a Circle, its members see your display name and your weekly score. Nothing else is shared.
Health-related data
Meals, weight, and nutrition data can reveal health information. We process it only to run the app for you, based on your consent when you sign up and use the service. We do not use it for any other purpose.
Facebook and Google sign-in
When you sign in with Facebook we receive your name and email address, and nothing else. When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address and a stable account identifier. We never post to your account or read your friends, photos or other profile data.
AI assistants you connect
An assistant you authorize, through OAuth or an invite you accept, can read and write your meals, nutrition, water, weight, steps, sleep, activity, habits and private reflections, within the scope you approve. Every write it makes is recorded in an audit log. You can revoke its access at any time in You → Assistants. The assistant provider (for example OpenAI or Anthropic) handles the data it receives under its own privacy policy.
How we use it
Only to run the app for you: show your day and week, sync from your assistants and Hevy, and send account emails: the ones you ask for, such as a sign-up confirmation or a password reset, plus at most two onboarding emails after you sign up (a welcome if you sign up from an AI assistant, and one reminder if nothing is logged after about a day), each with an unsubscribe link. We do not sell your data, show ads, or use it to train models.
Who processes it for us
- Vercel — hosting and private photo storage
- Turso — the database (hosted in the United States)
- Resend — sending account emails
- Google, Facebook — sign-in, only if you choose them
